As we move forward, I’m hoping to get some of the regional wines and spirits in here, but for the time being, I’m sticking with what I know best – beer. In the near future, I’m going to put together a panel of beer geeks and we’ll be running our own little beer-off – head-to-head judgings of IPAs, lagers, pumpkin brews and the like. 4th Anniversary DIPA by Black Flag Brewing Company.

This one dropped in the summer, so there aren’t many left on the shelves. It’s big, bold, and juicy, this New England Imperial IPA has a nice pop of grapefruit and hints of other citrus notes. This drinks smooth, and finishes reasonably dry, avoiding the heavy sweetness many of these brews have. If I had one complaint it’s that the brew is heavy, and doesn’t lend itself to having more than one. That said, it’s worth seeking out.

If you can still find it, it will make for great drinking on a weekend that feels like it’s ushering in fall weather.

Coming up next, a review of the new Warehouse Cinema and Tap Room in Frederick Maryland. For now, be well, and drink local.
